How to Start Your Own Babysitters Club this Summer!

Are you trying to think of a way to spend your summer vacation? Starting your own babysitting club is very easy and does not require much money; it just needs some time and commitment!

All you need is a couple of friends who are also interested in babysitting and are responsible. Remember, this is a business and professionalism is required. Make sure the people you invite to be part of your business are mature and trustworthy.

1. Get Certified

Before you can begin a business, you should be knowledgeable about your particular field of interest; in this case it is babysitting. Like any other job you have, you have to train for it so that you can be best prepared for any emergencies and know how to handle various situations!

It is difficult to find babysitting courses in your area with times that are most convenient for you but with the advancement of technology you can easily take courses online! The only and highly recommended babysitting training class on the internet can be offered here at BabysittingClass.com. It is only 6 hours long but you can space your lessons out to match your schedule and whatever is most convenient for you. At the end of the program they will mail you an official certification which you can show your clients.

2. Collect Club Members Information

It is important to have a detailed profile of each babysitter to keep organized. This will tell you the days and times each one is available to babysit, their contact information, babysitting preferences (if they can only babysit kids ages 3+, allergy to cats …), etc. That way if you need to refer a babysitter to your client, you can see which profile best fits the family. You should also have babysitters from a different part of town to join so that your clients can range from various parts of your town. Each babysitter should have a copy of each members information.

3. Get the Word Out

You may have the best babysitting business in the world, but how would anyone know about it if they have never heard of it? Word of mouth is highly successful but with a brand new business, there aren’t a lot of mouths to spread the word so you have to start with plain old fashioned flyers. The best place to advertise is right in your own neighborhood. Place a flyer in your neighbor’s mailboxes; even the ones who you know do not have children. You can never tell who they know and they might refer someone to you! Parents are more likely to trust someone who lives within a close proximity of their home. Another benefit for advertising in your neighborhood is that if they do respond, you do not need to worry about transportation.

4. “Okay, I received responses from several families. Now what?”

This is where your club members come into play. The reason for having a club in the first place is because you are only one person and there are not enough of you to go around to all the families. Instead of disappointing your clients, you can always make them happy by having a babysitter available for them. You should collect detailed information of each family that contact you; this way you can give it to the sitter who is babysitting them for the night and the family will not have to go over the same thing multiple times and it will give your organization a sense of professionalism.

It is also important for all the babysitters in the club to be certified so when you refer a club member to your client you do not have to worry about them thinking the babysitter is under qualified because they did not get certified!

Make sure each member charges the same rate. As a club, you should operate under the same conditions. This will eliminate competition amongst each other.

5. Meetings

Set a date and time either every week, biweekly, or monthly for all club members to come together and discuss business and experiences with each other. You can share experiences you have about families you babysit, problem kids, new activity ideas, etc. If you see that some sitters do not have many clients, think of an advertising plan to draw in more clientele. He/she can put more flyers up in their part of town. Discuss any changes to their schedule and availability and put it on their information sheet.

If your business is successful, you can even offer pet sitting services. You can even host a day camp in one of the member’s backyard if it is large enough and invite all your clients for a day of fun and socializing. Each member can be responsible for providing certain supplies to the camp. This requires a lot of planning since there are many kids involved.

Now that you know the basics of operating a club, go out there and make it happen! If you have any other questions do not hesitate to contact us.
